
The Romanian Atomic Forum Romatom participated yesterday in the event in which Nuclearelectrica and Canadian Nuclear Partners - both limbs Romatom - signed the framework agreement for the Retehnologization project of Unit 1 of the Cernavoda power station.

This long -term partnership aims to provide essential Project Management Organization (PMO) services necessary for unit 1 re -technologization, and the contract value is 240 million euros (360 million Canadian dollars).
This strategic collaboration emphasizes the continuous commitment of Romania and Canada to promote clean and sustainable energy, in a context of increased geopolitical uncertainty.Through this initiative, both nations demonstrate a common will to contribute to Europe's energy security, but also to generate new economic opportunities for their citizens.
Canadian Nuclear Partners, a subsidiary of Laurentis Energy Partners, will play a crucial role in this project, providing not only support in project management, but also technical assistance, consulting and vocational training adapted to the technology of Candu.
The signing event was honored with the presence of Romanian and Canadian officials, as follows: Ministers Ontario, Todd Smith and Stephen Lecce, Romanian Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, and Canada Ambassador to Romania, Gavin Buhan, together with representatives of CNPSA, SNN, Laurentis and Ontario Power Generation.

The framework agreement is based on a previous agreement signed between SNN and Laurentis, through CNPSA, in 2021, to develop a program for the preservation of water systems from the reactor during the re-technologicalization.
