ROMATOM: SEMNAREA MEMORANDUMULUI DE INTELEGERE CESINA – ROMATOM PRIVIND REALIZAREA PROIECTULUI ALFRED
The signing on May 24, 2017, in the presence of gentlemen Sorin Grindeanu, Prime Minister of the Government of Romania, Serban Valeca, Minister of Research and Innovation and Robert Tudorache, Secretary of State, Ministry of Energy, Memorandum of understanding between the partnership for research and education for advanced nuclear systems (Cesina) and the AssociationThe ability of the industry in our country to participate in innovative and large nuclear projects, considering the vast experience in carrying out units 1 and 2 from Cernavoda CNE, as well as participating in European nuclear projects.
Romania is developing within the Institute for Nuclear Research (ICN) in Pitesti, in the context of the European Strategic Plan on Energy Technologies (Set Plan) of the European Commission (EC), which aims to accelerate the development and use of low carbon dioxide technologies Alfred (European demonstrator of advanced advanced reactor),European sustainable nuclear (ESNII), who brings together industry and research partners in the development of technologies of generation IV rapid nuclear reactors.Thus, on December 18, 2013, the constitution of Falcon (Fostering Alfred Construction) was signed in Bucharest between Ansaldo Nuclear-Italy, Enea-Italy and Ratten/ICN in Romania.
In order to extend the partnership dedicated to the Alfred project in the field of research, academic environment and Romanian nuclear industry, on the occasion of the Nuclear Conference 2017 from ICN Pitesti, on May 24, 2017, in the presence of Mr. Sorin Grindeanu, the Prime Minister of the Government of Romania, Serban Valeca, the Minister of Research and Robert TudoracheMinistry of Energy, two documents of essential importance for the project:
- The cooperation agreement in the field of research and education for advanced nuclear systems (Cesina) between the Autonomous Directorate of Nuclear Energy Technologies (RATE / ICN), University of Pitesti (UPIT), Polytechnic University of Bucharest (UPB), National Institute for Research and Development for Physics and Nuclear Engineering "Horia Hulubei"Economica Into - Romanian Academy (IPE) and Constantin Brancoveanu University, Pitesti (UCBP) and
- The memorandum of understanding (soft) between the partnership for research and education for advanced nuclear systems (Cesina) and the Association "The Roman Atomic Forum" (Romatom), which was signed by Dr. Constantin Paunoiu, general director of ICN Pitesti, representing partnership Cesina and Dr. Teodor Chirica, Romatom President.
The Alfred project responds to the requirements Set Plan, which aims to accelerate the development and use of low carbon dioxide emissions, improvement of new technologies and reduce costs by coordinating national research efforts and supporting project funding, with the goal of developing at least one Rapid IV reactor in Europe.
The presence of the Prime Minister of the Government of Romania at the Nuclear Conference 2017, as well as his statements regarding the acceleration of negotiations for units 3 and 4 from Cernavoda CNE as well as "The firm commitment of the Government to support Romanian research in the field of development of civil nuclear technologies"It is a guarantee of maintaining and developing the long-term Romanian course in the direction of combined use of renewable resources and nuclear energy in reaching the carbon emissions targets at the level of 2050, in a total consensus with the provisions of the global agreement to maintain the growth of global warming below 2 ° C, resulting in the 21st)November 30 - December 11, 2015, document unanimously adopted by the 195 participating countries
