Mr. Teodor Chirica was elected president of the European Atomic Forum

 

The Romanian Atomic Forum ("Romatom") announces the election of Mr. Teodor Chirica, honorary president of Romatom, as president of the European Atomic Forum ("Foratom"), as a result of the decision of the General Assembly of December 12, 2017. Anterior Mr.Teodor Chirica has held the position of Vice-President Foratoma starting June 20, 2016.

Mr.Teodor Chirica is an expert in the nuclear field, with a rich experience in project management, occupying over time executive positions within the Romanian and foreign companies responsible for the implementation of nuclear projects.Mr.Teodor Chirica is a member of the Executive Committee of Foratom since 2006, the position from which it has contributed to the promotion of nuclear technologies at European level, the elaboration of European energy strategies and policies, subsequently involved in the consulting process for the realization of the energy strategy of Romania 2016-2030 with the perspective of an expert in the nuclear industry.Since October 2017, Mr.Teodor Chirica occupies the position of expert on nuclear energy/counselor of the general manager within the Nuclearelectrica SA.

The choice of Mr. Teodor Chirica as president of the European Atomic Forum is a recognition of Romanian experts in the nuclear industry, professionalism and dedication that are rewarded as the contribution made.Romania is on the nuclear map of Europe both through the prism of strategic nuclear projects absolutely necessary for our country, but also through the prism of Romanian specialists, a result of a long process of training, improvement and daily involvement.I am convinced that Mr.Chirica will represent a strong voice, given the recognition of the expert status at European level, in the dialogue with European institutions, a promoter of nuclear energy and investment projects and a binder between Central and South-East Europe by correlating energy policies in order to ensure energy independence and security" - Cosmin Ghita, general director of SNN.          

The drill represents the European Organization of the Nuclear Industry, whose purpose is to support national nuclear programs, represent the interests of the nuclear industry in the dialogue with European legislative institutions, providing information and benchmarking in order to align and improve aspects related to safety in energy supply, nuclear security,radioactive, environmental protection, development research and informing public opinion.Foritoma represents over 800 companies in Europe operating in the nuclear field and related fields, including Romatoma Member Companies.

Romatom was set up on January 10, 2001, when 14 companies, with private or state capital, as well as two non-governmental associations, decided to set up the Romanian Atomic Forum.Currently, Romatom has over 30 members.
