This installation, an emblematic project for Romanian technology, not only strengthens the position of Romania as a leader in innovative nuclear technology in Europe, but also emphasizes our firm commitment to the sustainability objectives of the European Union.Using innovations developed locally by the National Institute for Research and Development for Cryogenic and Isotopic Technologies-ICSI Râmnicu Vâlcea, the debtor will significantly reduce the emissions of tritium, thus contributing to the protection of the environment and aligning with the objectives of the ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance).
Romatom sees this project not only as a technological achievement, but also as a strategic opportunity for Romania to strengthen its supply chain in the nuclear field and to encourage the development and export of indigenous technology and expertise. This project will amplify the local research, development and production capacities, directly involving the industry and labor in Romania.
In addition, Romatom believes that the CTRF installation will position Romania as a European excellence center in the production and export of tritium, essential for the fuel of the fusion reactors of the future. With the most advanced nuclear security standards, according to the requirements of the National Commission for the Control of Nuclear Activities (CNCAN), this project will serve as a model to be followed in the global nuclear industry for environmental responsibility and innovation.
„We are pleased to implement an innovative Romanian technology with KHNP, a top expert in the nuclear field, to make a safe and reliable project. The debt installation demonstrates the nuclearelectricic commitment to the safe operation and the protection of the environment. This project emphasizes the role of Romania's leader in the nuclear industry and contributes to the national energy security”, Said Cosmin Ghiță, CEO of Nuclearelectrica.
