Memorandum of understanding signed by the nuclear delegation in Canada and the nuclear industry in Romania.

 October 30, 2018 - Bucharest, Romania.The Organization of Nuclear Industries in Canada (OCNI) and the Romanian Atomic Forum (Romatom) are proud to announce their partnership by renewing the memorandum of understanding (MOU) for nuclear energy cooperation.

Mou describes several ways in which Ocni and Romatom will continue to collaborate in order to identify the opportunities for nuclear suppliers in Romania and Canada.Also, Mou Ocni-Romatom will encourage and facilitate cooperation between research institutes and universities in Canada and Romania on research, development and nuclear education.

Mou was signed by Marina Oeyangen, operating director, on behalf of the president of Ocni and Mihaela Stiopol, administrative manager, on behalf of Mr.Gheorghe Lucaciu, executive director of Romatom, at the end of the first day of a common meeting of the representatives of nuclear industries in Canada and Romania, which took place in Bucharest, organized by Romatom and the Embassy of Canada.

The Canada-Romanian commercial delegation led by Ocni brought together representatives of 15 major nuclear suppliers in meetings with producers in Romania, as well as officials from the Ministry of Energy.The Canadian delegation also made a working visit to the Cernavoda nuclear power plant.

Both the president of OCNI and the executive director of Romatom have expressed their confidence and support for prolonging the cooperation between the two organizations.

"Ocni celebrates the signing of this mou and is interested in continuing a solid working relationship with the community of nuclear suppliers in Romania that will lead to a safe supply of energy in the region, the creation of jobs in both Romania and in Canada and future technological progress," said OCNI president Dr. Ron Oberth.

Gheorghe Lucaciu, Romatom executive director, said: "Romania and Canada are long -term partners in nuclear energy starting with units 1 and 2 from Cernavoda CNE, which are among the most efficient nuclear units in terms of the capacity factor from their commissioning.and the construction of units 3 and 4, as part of the solution to ensure the security in the supply of Romania and the achievement of the environmental objectives regarding the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions by 80% by 2050. We are confident that the future collaboration between our organizations will strengthen both nuclear industries, a well -organized horizontal industry being a competitive advantage for any country ”.
