The invocation of Romatom in the construction of the article is incorrect, the association not consulted on this subject. The nuclear industry in Romania reaffirms its openness regarding the debate and documentation of topics of interest to the general public, respecting ethical principles. In order to rectify the erroneous information, we make the following details:
- The Romanian Atomic Forum (Romatom) did not make statements regarding the partnership with China for the project 3 and 4 from Cernavoda. Romatom has supported the nuclearelectrica position in the development of this project, without being involved in the decision to select the investor, this decision being outside the association's competences.Of course, I greeted the requirement of the Romanian side regarding A Romanian presence in the project at a level of 30%, a percentage determined on the basis of Romatom studies and analyzes.
- The selection of the private investor was carried out in accordance with the "Strategy to continue the project 3 and 4 from Cernavoda CNE" (Document approved by the Government of Romania and by the General Assembly of the shareholders of Nuclearelectrica SA, in August 2014).The strategy clearly provides that the technology that will be used within the project is the type 6 type, with the Cernavoda unit 2 as a reference power station, including all post-Fukushima improvements. The strategy and stages traveled were also learned by the current Government of Romania. In addition, in May 2016, the report on units 3 and 4 from the Cernavoda Nuclearoelectric Power Plant was approved during the Supreme Council meeting of the country.
- As for China's tradition In the nuclear energy sector, for correct information, it is well known that holds at Qinshan two nuclear reactors of type when 6, which represented reference projects for the 2 Cernavoda unit, along with unit 1, with a series of improvements that were not found in unit 1 at that time. The problem of using another type of nuclear reactor in Cernavoda has never been raised, the requirement when 6 is non-negotiable. Indeed, China has Vver-type nuclear reactors and intends to purchase an advanced type III, a reactor to be built in Finland and Hungary, Member States of the European Union and NATO.However, the Chinese nuclear program is based largely on reactors in the lightweight water chain, developed by framatomas (eg Day Bay and Ling AO).Currently, they are under construction of generation III nuclear boilers in cooperation with Ara, France (EPR type) and Westinghouse, US (type AP 1000).
- The Chinese company designated as potential investor in Cernavoda has been selected as a partner with a participation of about 35% (investing about 7 billion euros), along with EDF Energy For the realization of the Hinkley Point plant in the UK, they tip epr.
- Support mechanism considered to achieve Cernavoda 3 and 4 project is considering the model accepted in the UK. The support mechanism will be adapted to the specific Romanian realities and will make the subject of a serious analysis, first from the Romanian authorities and then from the European institutions, Just as it was done with the Hinkley Point project in the UK.

About Romatom:
Romatom was set up on January 10, 2001, when 14 companies, with private or state capital, as well as two non-governmental associations, decided to set up the Romanian Atomic Forum.Currently, Romatom has over 30 members.
The association aims to promote the use for peaceful nuclear energy in Romania and to support the national nuclear program, as well as the coordination of all the activities assumed by the accession and participation of the Association in Foratom - the European Atomic Forum. At the same time, Romatom advocates for the protection and promotion of the interests of its members, representing the voice of the national nuclear industry, considering the technological and acquired know-how level, in order to fruiting them in practice.
About the project 3 and 4 units from Cernavoda
At the EU level, Romania is the only state with a complete nuclear cycle, and units 1 and 2 in Cernavoda provide about 20% of Romania's electricity needs. At the same time, in Romania, the role of nuclear energy is also significant in environmental protection, the two units from Cernavoda contributing to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by CCA.12,000,000 tonnes CO2/year, which would otherwise occur by burning fossil fuels.
The project of units 3 and 4 from Cernavoda is appropriate and necessary from the perspective of energy system requirements and independence from energy imports, as well as by contributing to the achievement of decarbonization targets assumed by Romania as a Member State of the European Union. The project of units 3 and 4 Cernavoda will replace, at the level of 2025-2030, current production capacities that will come out of use, either for technical considerations, or for European energy policies.
At the same time, by developing the project of units 3 and 4 from Cernavoda, there will be a significant revival of the economic and local business environment, by involving the national industry in the fields of equipment and components, construction-assembly and engineering in the execution and operation of new units.According to Romatom analyzes, 47 Romanian, private or state companies, have the necessary capabilities in involving units 3 and 4 from Cernavoda, resulting in at least 16,000 direct jobs in the national industry to complete this project.
