The Romanian Atomic Forum (Romatom) organized the General Assembly of 2025, bringing together 49 members of the civil nuclear industry.The event, carried out in the presence of the representatives of the Ministry of Energy, of the National Commission for the control of nuclear activities (CNCAN), of the great operators in the field and of the specialized service providers, highlighted the strategic directions and the projects that will model the future of the nuclear sector in Romania.Also, during the event were elected the Board of Directors and the president of the association.<\/span><\/p>\n

The message of the Minister of Energy<\/span><\/strong><\/h4>\n

The assembly was opened by the spokesmen of the key representatives in the field.In the name of Mr. Sebastian-Ioan Burduja, the Minister of Energy, the official message was presented by Bogdan Termegan, executive director of Romatom.<\/span><\/p>\n

He emphasized government support for civilian nuclear projects and stated that <\/span>\"The nuclear industry is facing historical opportunities\"<\/i><\/span>, this sector representing <\/span>\"One of the pillars of decarbonization and energy security\"<\/i><\/span> For Romania, according to the integrated national plan, climatic energy and national energy strategy.In the same framework, his reign highlighted the role of current and future investments:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201eRetehnologization of unit 1 from Cernavoda, the completion of units 3 and 4, as well as the implementation of the small modular reactors project are priority objectives assumed by Romania.To these are added those in the area of \u200b\u200badvanced nuclear technologies, the Alfred reactor from Pite\u0219ti\u2026 \u201d<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

The official emphasized the importance of strengthening the national supply chain, specifying:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201eWe want to see how the national supply chain develops and consolidates around these projects.It is essential that the added value remain in Romania, to generate stable and well -paid jobs, to increase the competitiveness of the Romanian industry ... \"<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, the ministry's support was reiterated for the Civil Nuclear Program and it was emphasized that the Government supports through concrete measures - including contracts for difference and loan guarantees - the development of strategic projects that require long -term predictability.In the vision of the minister, the technological transfer and the formation of the human resource represents essential elements for maintaining competitiveness on the European market and for ensuring a solid nuclear security culture.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, the initiation of collaboration between the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Education and Romatom, to identify new investment opportunities and to support the preparation of the next generation of nuclear experts was encouraged.The minister launched a call to the dialogue, stressing that:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201eOur political support for these projects is total.We want the implementation of these major investments as soon as possible, using resources, equipment, workforce and local know-how ... \"<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

In conclusion, the message mentioned that: <\/span>\"Nuclear energy is not only a key technology for energy transition, but also an opportunity to strengthen the position of Romania as a regional actor, with benefits on multiple plans: energy security, economic competitiveness and sustainable development.\"<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

    The second part of the event was dedicated to a discussion panel about the opportunities of the supply chain, taking into account the ongoing nuclear projects: Retehnologization of unit 1 from Cernavoda, the construction of units 3 and 4, the development of small modular reactors and emerging initiatives in the Romanian nuclear sector.<\/span><\/p>\n

      Maria Opri\u0219escu (CNCAN director)<\/b><\/span> explained the main differences between large reactors and SMR, emphasizing the adaptation of the normative framework to ensure both operational safety and implementation efficiency.In support of the participants in the nuclear civil program, Mrs. Oprisescu mentions:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        Representatives of the Retehnologization Project of Unit 1<\/b><\/span> - Cernavoda detailed the positive impact of the retehologization of unit 1 from Cernavoda on the operational performance and on the national energy system:<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

        \u201eInvestments in refurbishment will bring long -term benefits, increasing the energy security and competitiveness in the nuclear field by extending the life of 30 years to just half of the costs related to a new reactor with the same characteristics. \"<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n

          Alexandru Marciulescu (Deputy Director of Energulear Deputy)<\/b><\/span> highlighted the way in which the lessons learned from the implementation of units 1 and 2 are integrated into the development of units 3 and 4.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

            In the second part of the meeting, the Romatom members approved the activity report for 2024 and the financial situation of the organization.Also, the work program for 2025 was established and elections were held for the new composition of the Board of Directors and for the Romatom Presidency.The results of the elections determined the component of the Board of Directors as follows: <\/span>Automatica-President, Walter Tosto-vice-president, nuclearelectrica, industrial mounting, roseal, Candu Energy, Ansaldo Nuclear.As alternate members were chosen: precision mechanical gonzales, Ludan Engineering, NIMB CONSMETAL.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
