In the context of the official working visit of the US Department of Energy in Romania, the Romanian Atomic Forum ("Romatom") and the Romanian Association for Pressure Equipment ("Arpe") met with companies from the United States and Canada specialized in the nuclear field, on August 3, 2021.
The purpose of the official work visit is to continue and strengthen the connections with the nuclear industry and the decision -making factors in Romania, within the intergovernmental agreement concluded at Washington DC in October 2020, which was recently ratified by the Government of Romania.The cooperation agreement includes the development of the project 3 and 4 of the Cernavoda CNE, the project of re -technologicalization of unit 1 and other potential civil nuclear projects.
30 companies in Romania specialized in services, works and equipment for the nuclear industry met with companies from the United States and Canada, as well as representatives of the US Energy Department in an event that lasted a day and included visits, presentations and meetings meant to strengthen the cooperation between the nuclear industries in Romania and the USA.

Currently, the nuclear industry in Romania provides 11,000 jobs, a number that could increase to 20,000 in the context of new nuclear construction projects and has an annual contribution of 5.7 billion euros to the national GDP, being a force of sectoral growth, development of education, research and nuclear innovation.
