Among the Association's major actions we mention the following:

  • Collaboration with the Joint Committee of the Romanian Parliament - European Parliament during the pre-accession period to the European Union;

  • Presentation of the Romanian nuclear program to European institutions through specific channels lobbynuclear industry, organizing events, site visits and meetings with the national industry, with continuous support from FORATOM, in the context of Romania's request for the EURATOM loan necessary to finance the investment in the Cernavodă NPP Unit 2;

  • Evaluation of the capability of the Romanian nuclear industry by the Working Group for the National Nuclear Program during 2003 – 2004, publishing the paper “Capability of the Romanian nuclear industry to participate in the construction of Unit 3 of the Cernavodă NPP with supplies of equipment and materials” based on the responses of 36 commercial companies out of the 53 contacted;

  • Organizing events in Strasbourg with the participation of members of the European Parliament in support of the resumption of work at Units 3 and 4 in Cernavodă:

  • Collaboration with other similar associations in the nuclear industry, such as collaboration with the Bulgarian Atomic Forum – BULATOM and for support in view of the referendum held in January 2013 on the continuation of the nuclear program in Bulgaria.

  • Active participation in public consultations initiated by European institutions on topics related to nuclear energy:

  • the position of the Romanian nuclear industry regarding the support mechanism for the new Hinkley Point C nuclear project in the United Kingdom, transmitted to the European Commission in 2014

  • position on the possible state aid case SA.38454 (2015/C) (ex 2015/N) concerning the construction of the new nuclear power plant in Paks, Hungary, transmitted to the European Commission in 2016

  • FORATOM centralized comments on the draft European Commission Communication "Nuclear Illustrative Programme" finalized in 2017

  • response to the Public Consultation organized in 2017 by the European Commission on the Horizon 2020 (H2020) research program

  • Joining in 2015 the "Nuclear for Climate Initiative" launched by the French Society for Nuclear Energy (SFEN).

  • Active presence in the Romanian and international media through press releases and position papers, of which we mention:

  • the message addressed in collaboration with AREN, AREN YG and WIN to decision-makers in Romania and the Romanian delegation at COP 21/2015 Paris

  • press release on the adoption of the European Parliament resolution of 15 December 2015, "Towards a European Energy Union" (2015/2113(INI)), which recognises the contribution of nuclear technology to ensuring energy security while meeting greenhouse gas emission reduction targets

  • press release on the approval of the Report on Units 3 and 4 of the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant (CNE) during the meeting of the Supreme National Defense Council (CSAT) of May 27, 2016

  • press release on the approval in 2016 by the European Commission of the financing schemes for the construction of the two new units at the Paks II nuclear power plant in Hungary, as well as for the 10-year extension of the life of the reactors at Tihange 1, Doel 1 and Doel 2 in Belgium

  • position paper issued in 2017 on the support of the Generation 4 ALFRED reactor project by the FALCON Consortium (Fostering ALfred CONstruction) between ANSALDO Nucleare – Italy, ENEA – Italy and RATEN/ICN from Romania

  • position on the broadcast “Recourse to morality: the danger of the Kozloduy nuclear power plant”, dated 30.12.2017, which calls for a correct, balanced and transparent approach to information regarding the nuclear industry

  • Activities in support of the nuclear industry and research in Romania, through the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Partnership for Research and Education for Advanced Nuclear Systems (CESINA), including RATEN/ICN and the Romanian Atomic Forum Association (ROMATOM), for the development of the Alfred Generation IV reactor

  • Active contribution to the completion of the nuclear section of the Romanian Energy Strategy 2016-2030 draft, November 2016

  • Participation in the public consultations organized by the European Commission on the taxonomy of sustainable investments and support for the inclusion of nuclear energy, 2019 – 2020
